Stepmom pleads guilty to child abuse

The wife of an alledged child torturer has pled guilty to child abuse.

Natasha L. Brockitt, 20, Lexington, pled guilty to child abuse second degree in 73rd District Court last Thursday.

Brockitt agreed to testify against her husband, Joseph L. Brockitt, 34, in his circuit court trial as part of the plea bargain. The trial was scheduled to begin yesterday, May 15.

Races in all commission districts

The would-be politicians were hustling into the county clerk’s office to run for county office in the count-down to the May 15 deadline.

At press deadline Tuesday, prior to the filing deadline for nominating petitions, there were races in all five county commission districts, including four in the August Primary Election.

School custodial consolidation scrapped

Three local school districts - Sandusky, Peck and Carsonvile-Port Sanilac - are no longer looking at consolidating their custodial services, however, one may still privatize.

Sandusky is passing on the idea for now.
