RICHARD CLARENCE (DICK) BALL SANDUSKY
Richard Clarence (Dick) Ball, age 79, of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Port Huron Hospital in Port Huron.
He was born September 6, 1932 in Port Sanilac, the son of Clarence and Elizabeth (Schommer) Ball.
He was a lifelong area resident, a 1950 graduate of Sandusky High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sandusky. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Richard married Jeanne P. Smith on June 29, 1957 in Sandusky.
He was associated with the family business, Ball Insurance Agency, for fifty-six years.
Dick was an active member of the community, a member of the Sandusky Lions Club, a member of the Lions Past Presidents and he enjoyed many sports, including golfing, bowling, boating, and the Detroit Tigers.
He is survived by his wife Jeanne; his mother, Elizabeth Ball of Sandusky; three sons, Richard J. Ball and Lisa Tucker of Sandusky, Jon W. (Denise) Ball of Sandusky, David K. (Carolyn) Ball of Grosse Pointe Woods; grandchildren, Lindsay, Grant, Audrey, Matthew, and Ethan Ball, Brandon and Chase Tucker; three brothers, Gordon Ball of Sandusky, Ronald (Brenda) Ball of Virginia, Dale (Diane) Ball of Sandusky; one sister, Carol (Frank) Molloy of Sandusky; and his father and mother-in-law, Kenneth (Emogene) Smith of Snover.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Ball; brother-in-law, Paul Smith; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly Ball and Joyce Ball.
Funeral services were held at Marsh Funeral Chapel, Sandusky with Rev. Fr. Charles Hammond who officiated.
Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Sandusky.
Memorial suggestions may go to the Sandusky Lions Club, Leader Dogs for the Blind or any organization of the donors personal choice.
